Avengers - Endgame PREDICTIONS

Well, they announced the title and released the trailer to Avengers 4. Endgame is my second most anticipated film of next year behind only Star Wars: Episode IX. Right now, the hype train has went up for me after the trailer's release and I wanted to share some scatterbrained thoughts on what I think will happen. Keep in mind I'm probably jinxing myself that any of this stuff will actually happen. I do get a prediction right here and there, but most of the time I miss the mark by a large margin. If you don't want to discuss any POSSIBLE spoilers, then leave now. With that being said, let's start out with some character points.

- Key Players In Infinity War Will Take A Backseat

In Infinity War, there were so many players that not all could properly shine. Everyone was given at least one moment, but some characters were barely even in the movie. Here, I feel there will be a backseat given to key players in Infinity War to let the others shine. Black Widow and Cap's increased presence in this trailer says a lot, since they were sidelined for the majority of Infinity War. The second half almost looks like a Captain America movie because he's in it so much, albeit featuring other Avengers. While Tony has the trailer's full emotional presence and I'm sure he will be an exception to this rule, not many will break the mold. Thor, for example, will have a decent role, but not with the amount of screen-time in Infinity War. He's only in one shot of this trailer, and I think he will spend much time contemplating whether or not he's worthy to be the King of Asgard. While other highlights of its predecessor like Doctor Strange got lost in the "decimation" (The official name of the snap), I feel like the biggest lost presence will be Thanos. He had the most screen-time of any character in the movie and acted as the main character in many ways. However, while Infinity War was Thanos' movie, Endgame will be the Avengers' movie. He's still going to play a role, but I think he'll only be in a few scenes. He'll only be there to stop them from ending the decimation, and that's it. We delved into his backstory, he had his time to shine, now it's time for the Avengers once again to take the spotlight.

- Saving The Universe DOES NOT Involve Time Travel (At Least Not In The Way You Think)

Time travel has ultimately been suggested as the most likely way for the Avengers to reach their end goal, but I don't think it will be. However, I do believe that there will be time travel in the film, but not in the way you'd expect. Okay, SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp will come into play. In case you want to avoid spoilers, skip to the next section.

Okay, so do you remember the mid-credits scene of the film where Ant-Man goes into the quantum realm? Hank Pym, Janet, and Hope all get decimated, and he's stuck there with no one to get him out. In this scene, Janet says something like this; If you get sucked into a time vortex, we won't be able to save you. I believe one of Endgame's first scenes (Maybe its very first) will show Ant-Man getting sucked into a time vortex and coming out of the Quantum Realm 1 to 2 years in the future. This shows that the snap lasted awhile and had long-term effects on the universe, and perhaps this will lead to a failed attempt to time-travel. I will get into what I think happens in a few points.

- Hawkeye Will Show The Emotional Consequences Of The Decimation

Hawkeye was absent for all of Infinity War, and could've aimed for the head, but alas, we're here. Kidding aside, look at the screencap above from the Endgame trailer and tell me this man does not look devastated. I and everyone else will say the safest bet you can make about this movie is that Hawkeye's family died in the decimation. This will show an everyday man's perspective on the snap, and how he lives with it. He's clearly going to be involved with the fight this time around and, while he obviously won't kill Thanos, he will be intent on it and will do it at any cost. He's only in a few shots of the trailer, and this is the only one that reveals his face, but he'll show emotion. This will also give Jeremy Renner the proper time to shine as an actor. This guy is an incredible actor, shown in films such as Wind River and The Hurt Locker. It's about time he gets a proper role and performance in the MCU.

- The Dead Will Be Unsnapped Through The "Undecimation"

I'm not sure how this would tie into my theory that we'll get to in a minute, but I do believe that ultimately, in order to bring back the dead, the stones will have to be snapped once more. I don't know how they would do it other than going back and killing Thanos when he was a baby, but this will parallel Infinity War in a way; Thanos brings death, the Avengers bring hope. A pretty obvious parallel, but a good one nonetheless. This is where Thanos comes into play; They will have to find Thanos, who perhaps finds out they found a potential way in undo the snap, and somehow get the stones, either use the old glove or a new glove, and SNAP. It makes enough sense to me. Is it obvious? Sure, but I can't think of another way.

- Tony Is Saved By Thor and Rocket

At the end of Infinity War, Tony and Nebula are the only people left on Titan, and the Milano is the only working ship. During Endgame's trailer, Tony is shown to be seemingly alone in the Milano and slowly starving and running out of oxygen. While we do see a shot of Nebula later in the trailer, I do believe she leaves Tony to order to find Thanos and kill him herself. There might be an escape pod on board that she uses, I don't know. Any way it happens, Tony is left alone with limited oxygen, food, and water, as shown in the trailer. Soon after this, Rocket for whatever reason wants/needs to locate the Milano with no idea Tony Stark is on it. Thor and Rocket then travel through the bi-frost and discover Tony's on board. They take him back after they get what they want, which eventually leads into...

- The Quantum Realm and B.A.R.F Technology Are Key To Defeating Thanos

If you recall Captain America: Civil War, Tony is presenting his new B.A.R.F technology, which helps to altar traumatic memories through re-experience and hopefully work through them. This could not have been just a one-off thing; I believe it was building towards something in the future. It hasn't come into play just yet, and I believe it will in Endgame. Through this, the Avengers will visualize how they will defeat Thanos and potentially undo the snap. As for the Quantum Realm, since it can allow for potential access to the multiverse, the Avengers can locate Thanos and find out where he currently is through other dimensions, allowing them to enter other movies and not screw up the timeline. They can view ideas that might not work, or view how Thanos got the Stones. Therefore, the events of Infinity War still take place and the rest of the MCU is still canon. Bam.

- The Infinity Stones Will Be Destroyed

If someone used these to end half the universe and you defeated him, would you still keep them around? If someone else comes after these, the universe is in grave danger of mass destruction. After Thanos, I'm pretty sure no one would want that. There's some logic for ya. As for how they will be destroyed, it will be done after Thanos is defeated and the Avengers are resurrected, so I believe once Scarlet Witch comes back, she'll do it. She destroyed the Mind Stone before Thanos used the Time Stone to bring it back, so I'm sure she can do it to the other ones. Thor might be able to as well, since Stormbreaker can block the force of all six at once. Either or both, really. They both have the power to do so.

Now, onto the big and final one...

- DEATH PREDICTIONS

Okay, I could totally be wrong here. I was wrong about many of my death predictions for Infinity War (Permanent and not), albeit spot on on some (Loki was easy). I believe two original Avengers will die. Some may retire, but I feel that some will end up paying the sacrifice. My biggest prediction this time around is that Cap bites the dust. There are two ways I see him going out; Either going out protecting Tony and/or the rest of the Avengers from Thanos, or he sacrifices himself so they can get the Soul Stone. Both would be a satisfying way to end Tony and Cap's arc after Civil War if they reconile at some point in the film, and either one would be a worthy exit for Cap. I would prefer the latter, since it would be for half the universes' return and Red Skull would get a twisted win. However, once the Soul Stone is destroyed, I do believe he will die too, because he has nothing to protect and there's no further use for him since Cap's gone.

As for the other Avenger, it's a toss-up, but I do believe it will be Hawkeye. He will sacrifice himself saving the universe and in particular his family. It would be a beautiful ending to his arc. A lot of people are speculating Tony will die, and it could happen, but I don't think so. I believe he will have a child with Pepper as teased in Infinity War and go into retirement/exile. Black Widow has a movie rumored to come out in phase 4, so I think they'll keep her around. I believe Thor will become King of Asgard after establishing it in Norway as teased in Thor: Ragnarok. However, Bruce Banner's an interesting case. I think that we'll see him merge with the Hulk and both minds will work at the same time. I'm not entirely sure what will happen to him, but there's multiple possibilities.

I also think Nebula will die at some point, even if I'm not sure when. Her whole goal as a character is to kill Thanos, and I believe that motivation will kill her. Speaking of which, Thanos will probably die as well. A threat of that level needs to be taken out, and the Avengers are clearly, well, avenging and saving the Earth. Who will kill Thanos, I don't know, maybe Thor or Tony, or all of the Avengers. I honestly have no clue, but a threat like that needs to be taken out, and someone has to do it.

Also, I believe all characters in Infinity War that died pre-snap will NOT come back. This means Loki, Heimdall, Gamora, and Vision. I've heard theories for all coming back except Heimdall (Who cares about him anyway), and I don't believe they are true. They've already brought Loki back twice, so bringing him back would be predictable and embarrassing, Vision could come back, but with no recollection of his life pre-snap and no emotions, and Gamora would undo arguably the most emotional scene in the film. I do believe these characters could play a minor role in the film with multiple dimensions and the like, but no, they may try to bring them back, but it's not happening.

So those are my predictions. I'm probably wrong on most of these, as I'm really bad at guessing what's gonna happen in movies, but I'm happy with these anyway. Being wrong is all part of the fun. Thanks for reading. Bye.
